Ever since I could walk and talk I have always been in love with fashion. Since I have scoliosis I don’t always feel confident in my body and fashion is a way to express myself. I enjoy dressing up and creating different looks because it takes me back to a time where I didn’t have much complications medically.
When I was a little girl I would always watch my mom get dressed. The way she would pick out her clothes and lay them on the bed to make an outfit really pioneered my fashion journey. She always made sure to look her best no matter what she was going through. The way she organized and cared for the amount of jewelry, purses, and clothes in her closet inspired me.
My mom has always been known for her great sense of style and it is something I greatly admire. Something about waking up and deciding what to put on truly helps me to stay positive about my situation. When I first started to lose leg strength I would still get dressed and get my photos taken. If I had to hold onto a street sign or stand up against a wall I would do it. I couldn’t let this condition take one more thing away from me so I fought for what I loved. Knowing that life isn’t promised I try my best to live mine to the best of it’s possibilities. My outfits carry my emotions, it can tell you if I’m having a good day or a bad one. Once I got confident with my style I knew the type of life I desired.
